Soft contact lenses are manufactured from plastics which absorb water into their structure making them feel soft and flexible.  Soft contact lenses are  usually comfortable straight away and are ideal for occasional wear. They are unlikely to dislodge from the eye making them suitable for sports or use in dusty conditions.

Disposable Contact Lenses

Disposable contact lenses are soft lenses which are replaced on daily, weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis. The main advantage of increasing the replacement frequency is that deposits are minimised thereby reducing risks of discomfort, allergies and infections. Recently there have been considerable advances in the ranges of disposable contact lenses available for patients with moderate levels of astigmatism and presbyopia (combining distance and reading prescriptions).

Frequent Replacement Tailor Made Contact Lenses

Patients with high prescriptions that fall outside 'disposable ranges' will need tailor made contact lenses. These can be supplied on a frequent replacement basis whereby the price of each contact lens will decrease as the replacement frequency increases. Due to the nature of these products discounts are calculated on an individual basis depending on the supplier and replacement frequency.

Cosmetic and prosthetic contact lenses
