The Bollé Brand History

Bollé delivers the highest quality sunglasses and goggles for performance and protection. Constantly refining their trademark combination of fit, fashion, and comfort, resulting in some of the freshest and most technologically advanced eyewear in the industry.

The brand was created in 1888 by Seraphin Bollé in Oyonnax (France). Bollé was one of the first companies to use a new type of celluloid which became the basis of Bollé products during its first decades.

In 1936 Bolle launched its first sunglasses and quickly became the pioneer of molded Nylon, creating products to meet the highest safety standards. After WWII, Bollé led the way in molding nylon to the highest standards in the world and in 1950 added safety glasses and goggles to their portfolio.

In 1956 Georges Bollé created the famous nylon ‘cat-eyes’ sunglasses. In 1960, ski goggles were first marketed by Bollé and in 1986 they launched the iconic cycling model CHRONOSHIELD.

In 2007 Bollé expanded in to ski helmets, becoming a front-line player in the winter sports landscape and in 2015 Bollé launched its first line of cycling helmets. Today the brand offers cycling, mountain bike and urban cycling products, with unique prescription cycling glasses.

Now, over 130 years since their first product launched, Bollé products are distributed and worn all over the world. The business has grown from a small cottage to a world leader in premium sports eyewear. Bollé has developed a particular strength in the specialty markets of snow sports, water sports, golf, tennis, cycling and outdoor, as well as stylish prescription sunglasses for everyday use.
