Love Your Lenses Week, orchestrated by the General Optical Council, is a time for everyone who has anything to do with contact lenses to remember that if you love your eyes, love your lenses.
Contact lenses have changed millions of people’s lives for the better. They are simple, convenient to use and often provide more natural all-round vision than spectacles. They can even help people to achieve life-long dreams, such as becoming professional athletes.
If they are looked after properly, and checked at least once a year contact lenses are safe. However when contact lenses aren’t cared for appropriately, there is a risk of developing eye infections which occasionally can become sight threatening with life-changing consequences.
