This week, we are joining with optometrists and contact lens opticians across the UK to celebrate Love Your Lenses Week 2019.
Contact lenses are loved by millions of people and, if looked after properly, they are safe. However, recent research shows that whilst most wearers perceive themselves to be compliant, very few actually meet the recommended safety levels.
Contact lenses have changed millions of people’s lives for the better. They are simple, convenient to use and often provide more natural all-round vision than spectacles. They can even help people to achieve life-long dreams, such as becoming professional athletes.
If they are looked after properly, and checked at least once a year contact lenses are safe. However when contact lenses aren’t cared for appropriately, there is a risk of developing eye infections which occasionally can become sight threatening with life-changing consequences.
